CHARLIE'S ANGELS ANIMAL RESCUE IS THE RECIPIENT OF WONDERFUL FUNDRAISER AT BURLINGAME COUNTRY CLUB

An outstanding fundraiser was held on Sunday, August 7th at Burlingame Country Club to benefit Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue. The sponsors of this wonderful event were the Biddles, Corums, Kosters, Myles, Stens and Wyllys. Invaluable help with the event was also provided by the Clays. Charlie's Angels wishes to send our heartfelt thanks to these wonderful couples who gave so much of their time and energy to help the animals of Transylvania County that our group works so tirelessly to save. The proceeds of the event are still being tallied but we are breathing a collective "sigh of relief" for the much needed funds that this event generated. Again, THANKS SO VERY MUCH TO ALL OF YOU!!!

Here are a few photos of the event which included golfing, a silent auction, cookout, and games.

WAGS Volunteer, Keith, Visits NC....

Charlies Angels Animal Rescue was so pleased to have Keith, a volunteer from WAGS visits NC. WAGS is a wonderful rescue located near Philly, PA who has helped rescue TONS of our animals. Here are some photos from lunch with Keith.

Check out WAGS' website here: http://www.wagsrescue.com/

A letter from Keith:

Thanks to all of you for your hospitality and warm welcome during my visit to NC. It was certainly a special day and I really appreciated visiting the shelter and enjoyed having lunch with all of you. I've attached a picture - here's your girl, Vivian, with her loving new family that adopted her this past Sunday. It's always good to know that they're getting good, loving homes. I also spent some time with Rex on Sunday & he is doing well. He is in a loving foster home and there are several people interested in adopting him. It's too bad that we can't save all of the dogs and find them good homes. However...all of the volunteers in your group and at WAGS do their best to save these wonderful friends.

Let us know if any of you will be traveling North in the future. We would really enjoy having you meet some of our group as well! Who knows - maybe we can plan a get together in the coming year & meet halfway with all of our dogs! Thanks again.

Regards,

Keith

Lil Miss and Buster TAKE TO THE SKIES To Find New Homes!

Yesterday, two of our rescued dogs, Lil Miss and Buster, were fortunate enough to wing their way towards rescue with Whispering Woods Animal Rescue in PA. ARF (Animal Rescue Flights) was the provider of this wonderful service! These two left Asheville, NC around 10:00AM Saturday morning and arrived at their destination of Sussex, NJ around 5:00PM Saturday afternoon. There were 3 "legs" involved; 3 different pilots and planes. Please enjoy viewing our videos and photos and also visit ARF's website to see even more! Many thanks to Whispering Woods, Clark with ARF, and Jerry and the other pilots who made this possible!

COOPER FINDS HIS NEW FAMILY!

Cooper, one of Charlie's Angels Rescue dogs, has hopefully found his new family! He had successful surgery on his hip and is still in recovery but is making wonderful progress! He had been accepted by rescue but rescue was fine with him being adopted locally as there was no current application on him from the rescue. We are so very happy for Cooper and are hoping this new home works out for him; we are hoping he has found the wonderful life that he so deserves! His final home visit will be done in a couple of weeks and, if everything is ok, the adoption will be finalized. Special thanks to his fosters, Judy and Clyde, for everything that you did for him!

Here are some pictures of him in what we hope will be his new home!

Update on Cooper...

Cooper's Story:
Cooper has had a rough life. Sometime in his past he was hit by a car- shattering his hip bone. His previous owners never took the time to care for Cooper's injury- leaving it to heal wrong and cause Cooper alot of pain.

Cooper came into Charlies' Angels hands and we became aware of the problem that was overlooked for years. He has his surgery last week.

update from Cooper's foster: This is called an FHo-femeral head osteotomy. They remove the head of the femor in the joint and the muscles hold everything together. Wait until you see the xrays. Cooper's was more complicated because he had bone fragments in his hip from his old injury. It is unbelievable how well it works, just like Dr. Homolko, our vet in Cashiers, said it would. Cooper is walking and wants to play but he is supposed to be on a leash for 3 weeks. He has his follow up appointment on 6/30. On Wednesday, I have a wonderful family coming to see him.

We hope that Cooper will now be pain free! And find a forever home with a loving family.

COOPER IS BEGGING FOR A NEW HIP!

COOPER NEEDS HIP SURGERY!
Cooper is a younger Shepherd/Rottie mix who was pulled from our local high kill shelter. It was not evident at first that Cooper had an injury to his hip that caused him to favor his left back leg. This was discovered when he was placed in a foster home and taken out to walk. Cooper was scheduled to go on transport to a rescue but was pulled from the transport when the problem with his hip was discovered.

The following is information that was relayed to us by his foster, who has taken it upon herself to see what is needed for Cooper to be able to lead a normal life: "The vet specialist in Hendersonville examined Cooper and said he needs an fho, a removal of the ball on the femer. He has been hit by a car in the past. His other hip is not right either but does not require surgery. The cost is $2000. (We are checking to see if there is a better price for this; however, this is a specialized surgery so we know that the cost will be very expensive.) Cooper will be in lots of pain without this operation. The recovery is about 8 weeks."

From Cooper: "I know that my foster is trying to help me and if Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue had not pulled me from the shelter, I would now be dead. I desperately need this surgery if I am going to lead a normal life! You can tell by looking at me that I am very, very handsome and I am also a younger dog. Won't you please help me get the surgery that I so desperately need? I know it is very expensive and the rescue has others that need to be helped as well. But, aren't I worth it too? I heard the volunteers and my foster say that they would do everything they could to help me and I believe them! They also said that they were going to start a Chipin to help me! I want to thank each and every one of you for any amount you can send; no amount is too small! Again, thank you so much!"

You can see that Cooper's left leg is noticeably smaller in the picture below. He is reluctant to put weight on it.
