Maggie needs front leg Amputated....

Sometimes, life just doesn't seem fair...Case in point is Maggie, a beautiful, young Blue Pit who only weighs 32 lbs. Maggie was found by a citizen underneath his porch. He saw her left leg and thought she had been hit by a car. He called animal control to come get her. But, Maggie's "injury" was actually a congenital defect. She had been born with a severely deformed left front leg. She is not able to use this leg at all. Because of this, all of her weight has been directed to her right leg which is severely bowed and could also become useless at any time. When a Charlie's Angels volunteer and Maggie's foster mom took Maggie to the vet for assessment, it was a heartwrenching, emotional meeting. It was obvious that this little girl would need to have the deformed left leg removed so as not to continue to add even more weight to the deteriorating right leg. But what about quality of life for her? It was obvious that she was full of life and showed a determination that only creatures who have overcome tremendous odds demonstrate.
Maggie's life was about to change forever. Another "Angel" was to come into Maggie's life! She and her husband live in the Raleigh area. They were contacted by Charlie's Angels, told Maggie's story, and, without hesitation, agreed to take this precious little one. They were not deterred by her condition because, you see, they have other special needs animals in their household. One is another dog who uses a special cart to get around; he also has no front legs. Still another is a deaf Pit who lives a great life with this wonderful family. So, a time was set to meet Maggie and take her back to their home. It was a heartwarming meeting; Maggie seemed to know that she had found a special family who could take care of her special needs. Maggie has been vaccinated, spayed, and heartworm tested neg. But, she will need to have her left leg removed (she will be coming back to our vet to have that done), and will have to have a special cart made for her to be able to walk. Even with our discount, the cost is estimated to be $1500 for the surgery and the specially designed cart. We desperately need funds for her surgery and her cart. Please help us help Maggie by donating whatever you can; no amount is too small! All the volunteers and foster mom for Maggie thank you, her new mom and dad thank you and, most of all, Maggie thanks you for helping her to have the life that she so deserves!
